Fundraising Training

We provide transformational fundraising training to nonprofit staff members, boards of directors, campaign committees, and groups of nonprofit leaders. In our experience, nonprofit professionals at all skill levels benefit from stepping back and thinking about the process they use day after day. So, we tailor each session to the needs and skill level of your organization – from introductory to advanced concepts.

All of our sessions are hands-on. We provide template documents that have been developed and tested rigorously through years of working with many clients. These documents will keep your development operation organized for success. They include proven conversation guides for donor meetings, as well as targeted troubleshooting tips built from decades of experience. Training format varies depending on whether you need a lunchtime overview, half-day and full-day sessions, or a comprehensive, year-long program.

SUNY New Paltz and the SUNY New Paltz Foundation engaged Heller Fundraising Group to assist with strategic planning, leadership coaching, and pre-campaign planning. We worked closely with Peter Heller and found his insights, his ability to teach and inspire, and his assistance in planning truly valuable. Additionally, he recommended a terrific grant-writer who assists with numerous projects. I highly recommend Heller.

Elements For Success

Fundraising Training for Capital Campaigns

Are you on the cusp of a substantial building or renovation project? Do you need to grow your programs or your endowment? (Who doesn’t?)

Many nonprofit leaders facing these challenges are not prepared for the rigors of a capital campaign. We help you analyze and prepare the six key ingredients for Capital Campaign success:

  1. Case for Support

  2. Dollar Goal

  3. Donors

  4. Steering Committee

  5. Systems

  6. Timing

What’s more, the fundraising training for capital campaigns will give you tools to evaluate exact preparedness for your campaign and will send you back to your office knowing the next steps you need to take for success. These tools are effective for any size campaign, but those who are considering a $5 million+ project will benefit most.

Breakthrough Training

Major Gift Breakthrough Training

Regardless of your nonprofit’s mission or fundraising diversification, if you don’t have a plan in place to identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts from individuals, you’re leaving vital funds untapped. Successful nonprofits possess an ability to connect with wealthy individuals who happily support their cause. How do those groups do that? And how can your organization transition from depending on government and/or foundation grants to raising major gifts – even having them become your top gifts?

Our training will help your nonprofit break through the barriers that are limiting your success in raising major gifts. This training is actionable, using concepts that we discuss and practice as a group. We structure the training into three simple steps to orient fundraisers to the process of major gift fundraising:  Getting Organized, Scheduling Donor Meetings, Meeting the Donor and Making the Ask.
