Pictures of Success: Capital Campaigns Serving Families Go Forward Despite the Quarantine

By Betsy Steward

I’m so pleased to share good news from two of the Heller Fundraising Group’s capital campaign clients! Both are considered essential services, so construction on their projects has continued throughout the quarantine and both are on schedule to open their doors as originally planned.

First up is the Ossining Children’s Center, whose $17.8 million campaign “Our Children. Our Future.” is nearing completion. Set to open in September, this new state-of-the-art children’s center will have a powerful impact on the Ossining, NY community by expanding its year-round child care and enrichment programs for children, from infants through sixth grade, regardless of their family’s income. The Heller Group is proud to help this 125-year-old children’s center continue its legacy of leadership in education. Take a look at their new Center:

Second up is Yonkers-based Westhab, Westchester’s largest provider of housing and services for the homeless and its largest nonprofit developer of affordable and supportive housing. Their $5.1 million Dayspring Campaign promises to transform Nodine Hill, an area of Yonkers that has been underserved for decades, and leads both Yonkers and Westchester in many demographic indicators of poverty and distress. The Dayspring Campaign has two components: the Dayspring Commons, a beautiful new high-quality affordable rental building, and the Dayspring Community Center, formerly a church, that will become a central community hub with comprehensive youth programming, adult education programs, job training, counseling and support, allowing all members of the community to prosper. Together, they will become the Dayspring Campus—the largest investment in a generation in Nodine Hill—and the catalyst for additional community investment that won’t displace Nodine Hill’s residents but rather create the safe and inspiring community they deserve.

In the challenging times we are all living through, the Heller Fundraising Group is grateful to help support our clients find solutions like these that dramatically improve our communities. If you’d like to learn more about either of these projects, please email me. Congrats and best wishes to Westhab and OCC!
